Serves as the liaison between Custodial staff and the Facilities team. Ensures KANA facilities are maintained in a safe, clean, and welcoming environment to the highest of clinical standards of cleanliness, inspects and audits janitorial areas of responsibility, and oversees cleaning supply inventory levels.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Supports the organization’s mission and goals and quality standards. Incorporates KANA’s core values of Courtesy, Caring, Respect, Sharing, and Pride in all activities and decisions.
  • Upholds KANA’s Code of Ethics by conducting professional activities with honesty, integrity, respect, fairness, and good faith in a manner that reflects positively upon the organization.
  • Promotes effective working relationships with custodial staff, the organization, and agency and community partners. Greets visitors, staff, and others in a professional courteous manner, and directs visitors as appropriate.
  • Serves as a role model for behavioral standards and KANA code of conduct for staff; supports excellence in customer service through identification of the professional and training needs of staff.
  • Establishes and maintains effective interpersonal relationships with staff, management, customers, and visitors; promotes an atmosphere that encourages enthusiasm and staff participation in compliance, quality improvement, and high-performance standards.
  • Ensures custodians provide janitorial services as assigned for spaces that may include offices, exam rooms, conference rooms, restrooms, and public areas by routinely removing trash or debris, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping floors, dusting, wiping handrails and door knobs, and cleaning windows. This may include driving to multiple sites throughout the workday. This position ensures a high standard of cleanliness is maintained throughout each day. 
  • Regularly spot-checks KANA facilities to ensure a clean and sanitary environment and reports any safety concerns. Ensures staff are wearing appropriate PPE an using appropriate antiseptic detergents according to established procedures.
  • Oversees logistical supply management for all assigned supply needs and ensures appropriate inventory is maintained. 
  • Identifies system related problems and works collaboratively with manager, administration, and staff to resolve issues.
  • Works with facilities management to assess and revise schedules as needed to ensure appropriate staffing is maintained.
  • Counsels staff on performance/behavior standards requiring immediate attention and communicates issues to Facilities Management for follow-up action; collaborates during annual performance evaluations for custodial staff; recognizes staff for providing exceptional customers service on a regular and ongoing basis.
  • Provides backup support to custodians as needed. Covers any open shifts due to call offs if no replacement can be found.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities Provides direct oversight to Custodial staff as assigned. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.    


Requirements

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and three (3) years of custodial experience required. Experience leading teams preferred. Knowledge of clinical and high-quality cleanliness standards and a proven ability to provide a positive customer service experience.

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Driver's License for the past three consecutive years with acceptable driving record.
