All KANA positions are based in Kodiak and are not eligible for remote work. Applicants must reside in Kodiak or be willing to relocate.

 

KANA’s standard work schedule is 37.5 working hours per week, typically consisting of 7.5 paid working hours per day plus a one-hour unpaid lunch break (total of 8.5 hours on site per day).

 

The Behavioral Health Aide (BHA) – Kodiak is a City of Kodiak-based Behavioral Health Professional who provides quality Behavioral Health (BH) services to youth, adults, and families. In coordination with Brother Francis Shelter and Kodiak Women’s Resource and Crisis Center, conducts health promotion activities within the City of Kodiak.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities including the following representative duties:

  • Develops therapeutic helping-relationships with clients that are based on unconditional positive regard, empathy, and honesty that is balanced with grace
  • Provides immediate behavioral health services for families and children experiencing family violence, domestic violence, and dating violence as well as homelessness and those who have experienced violence in their lives at any time.
  • Provides transportation services as determined necessary to meet the needs of the client and treatment requirements.
  • Upon request, provides support to other KANA villages/BHAs; may take clients from villages onto caseload.
  • Organizes and/or assists other departments or organizations with alcohol/drug-free social activities for youth and adults to promote good health;
  • Provides community health education through regular classes/presentations in the schools and community; obtains and distributes written health information materials to the public.
  • Will begin the Behavioral Health Aide training program through the University of Alaska Fairbanks before the end of their first year of employment.
  • Will apply to become a QBHP (Qualified Behavioral Health Professional) under the 1115 Waiver within the first year after hire
  • Offers informal Behavioral Health supports to community members, such as visiting elders, attending community events, or engaging with individuals not yet ready to seek formal services.
  • Prepares and submits required reports and activity sheets in accordance with grant/contracts established protocols.
  • Completes administrative and clinical documentation in a timely manner in order to maintain program compliance within the guidelines established by Kodiak Area Native Association, State of Alaska, Medicaid and other regulatory agencies.
  • Attends all required clinical supervision meetings related to the position.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent and six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. BHA certification preferred.
