Position Overview

The Wellness Center Assistant I supports the daily operations of the KANA Wellness Center by providing excellent customer service, assisting clients with registration and orientation, maintaining a clean and safe facility, and supporting wellness programs and activities. This role helps ensure that clients have a positive experience and access to the resources they need to pursue their fitness and wellness goals.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain a consistent presence in the Wellness Center and greet and assist clients.
  • Orient and register new members using intake forms and membership software.
  • Verify and update member registration, eligibility, waivers, and client records.
  • Assist with opening and/or closing the facility and support day-to-day operations.
  • Provide safe and appropriate instruction on equipment use.
  • Monitor facility use and help maintain a safe training environment.
  • Maintain facility cleanliness, including minor custodial tasks and laundry.
  • Assist clients with electronic membership software, mobile app setup, and fitness features.
  • Promote member registration, group classes, personal training, and wellness initiatives.
  • Provide clerical and administrative support to the Wellness Center team.
  • Support marketing and outreach efforts for wellness programs and community events.
  • Collaborate with community and tribal partners on health and wellness activities.

 

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least one year of experience working with the public in a clerical, customer service, or fitness-related role.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and internet-based applications.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Experience in a fitness center, wellness program, recreation facility, healthcare setting, or community service environment.
  • Experience with membership management or client management software.
  • Interest in health, fitness, and community wellness.

 

Certifications

Current CPR and First Aid certification, or ability to obtain certification within 30 days of hire through KANA-sponsored training.

 

Work Schedule

This is an on-call position averaging approximately 10 hours per week. Hours are flexible and may vary based on Wellness Center needs.
